This series car broke the world speed record. The Koenigsegg Agera RS reached last Saturday the combined speed of 447.2 km / h. The Swedish sportswoman beats the previous record established by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. This former champion had run at 431 km / h on July 4, 2010, reports La Revue Automobile.
A registered record in Nevada
Recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, this figure represents an average speed. To see their approved record, vehicles must roll in one direction and then in the other. This measure makes it possible to cancel the influence of the wind. The record was set in Pahrump, Nevada (USA), on a road closed for the occasion. The pilot Niklas Lilja first rolled at 436 km / h, before reaching the 458 km / h in the other direction.
The young man was driving an Agera RS from the Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg. This model features a twin-turbo 5.0L V8 engine, which develops 1,360 horsepower for 1,371 Nm of torque (engine rotational speed). The car weighs only 1,295 kilograms empty. Koenigsegg had already published on October 5 a video of the performances of the Agera RS on YouTube. The 3 minute short film records more than 4.7 million views.
